Hi, I’m Gabi. I’m a photographer based in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Being from Puerto Rico means Colorado still feels a little magical to me. The mountains, the wildlife, the seasons, the snow. I notice all of it, even after more than a decade in the States. People laugh when I get excited about deer, but I really do get excited about deer.
Photography didn’t start as a creative calling for me. I was going through a rough time and began taking long walks to clear my head. I kept noticing small things that made me feel better, and eventually I wanted to share those little moments of joy. So I bought a camera. That was the beginning.
Before photography, I lived a few different lives. I earned a master’s degree and published research papers in psychology. I worked as a digital artist and illustrator. I traveled to more than 20 countries. I’ve always been curious, and I’ve always liked learning new things, so changing paths has never felt strange to me.
I got my first camera in January 2024. Since then, I’ve put a lot of time and energy into getting better. Exhibitions, awards, collaborations, and earning my Part 107 commercial drone license. I’m not someone who does things halfway. If I care about something, I put in the work.
Photography keeps me grounded. It keeps me outside, paying attention, noticing things that make me feel steady and happy. In a world that makes it easy to become cynical, this is the thing that keeps me looking for what is good.
